Boise
First Congregational United Church of Christ welcomed Rev. Donald
(Don) Hammond on November 12, 2006 as the Interim Pastor. Reverend
Hammond was ordained by the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ),
NW Regional Christian Church in 1977.
Since
then he has served as Senior Pastor and Interim Senior Pastor
at three Eastern Seaboard churches and at Central Union Church,
Honolulu, Hawaii, his most recent position. CUC has 2,700 members
and a very large staff and budget. While there a homeless crisis
occurred in Honolulu and Don and Nancy spearheaded a campaign
to house, feed and see to their needs. Their effort was so successful
that it stimulated the state to create a permanent shelter based
on their model. In his last three positions Don has come to churches
needing conflict resolution, healing and forgiveness.
Don graduated from high school in Bethlehem,
PA; received his BA from the University of Idaho and his MDiv
at Christian Theological Seminary, Indianapolis, IN. His special
interests are family, traveling, fishing, exploring, baseball,
vehicle restoration, gardening and friends.
Reverend
Hammond says he is in the mountain moving business and his pastoral
responsibility is to help congregations discover the same truth.
