Who are we?

Furnishing Hope is a 501(c)3 nonprofit mission program of Boise First Congregational United Church of Christ. We support our neighbors in the Boise area who have recently secured housing after experiencing homelessness.

History

Furnishing Hope was established in 2023 as a collaborative effort between several local faith communities and Interfaith Sanctuary to support guests transitioning out of the shelter into stable housing. That grassroots initiative has evolved into our current program, which continues to foster compassion and community connections.

Our Process

Collect Furniture & Household Items

Community members donate new and gently used items to Furnishing Hope or one of our sponsoring organizations.

Organizational Referrals

Individuals and families transitioning out of homelessness into stable housing are referred to us by our community partners, including shelters and human services agencies. These organizations identify those with the greatest need, enabling us to have the most significant impact. We do not have a direct application process.

Housing must already be secured before referral. We do not assist in finding or providing housing.

Transform Empty Spaces into Homes

Volunteers help us thoughtfully furnish spaces, creating warm and welcoming homes. We strive to incorporate individualized elements that reflect each person's unique style and interests.

Get Involved!

  • Sponsoring one of our home projects is a great way for groups to give back to the community in a hands-on experience. You will work with the Furnishing Hope Team to transform a space into a personalized home for a family or individual who has recently experienced homelessness. We’ll support you in collecting the necessary furnishings and household items/or financial contributions. Volunteers will work together to deliver and arrange furniture, unpack household items, hang artwork, make beds, set up kitchens and bathrooms, and perform other move-in tasks. It’s an excellent opportunity to build team and community connections while providing service for a deserving family or individual moving onto a brighter future!
